Is your journey pain-filled?: Breathe Again book review

We all face events and circumstances that bring us to our knees. Sometimes it is in prayer, other times it is just because we can’t possibly move forward. The pain, hurt, or shock is too great for us to imagine that life continues past this point. And yet, time continues on in her seeming uncaring march toward the next moment, the next day, the next year.

As much as we may desire to lay heaped on the ground until we can once again process life, events and activities don’t stop just because our world has been brought up with sudden or sometimes not so sudden shock or grief.

While sharing bits of her story with losing family to cancer and her own battle with cancer, Niki Hardy holds out simple steps for us to walk in while we learn how to continue on with this life that never ceases in spite of how hard the days before us are.

Niki’s honest conversation with her reader is refreshing and brings moments of laughter and tears as she offers a helping hand. Through her book she opens the door to how she has dealt with overwhelming challenges – challenges that looking in on her life did not seem to be so unmanageable; yet from her perspective her they crushed and threatened the destruction of her spirit, her health, and her family.

Niki’s no-nonsense writing offers seven steps we each can take, reminding ourselves that there is more than this overwhelming moment we face, and giving us just enough courage to trust, reach out for help, find our people, be vulnerable, and live with purpose the path before us – even when that path is painful and difficult.
