Yesterday I defined courage as:
1. to inspire with courage, spirit, or confidence; 2. to stimulate by assistance, approval, etc.; 3. to promote, advance, or foster; synonyms: hearten, urge, and support [encourage. Dictionary.com. Dictionary.com Unabridged. Random House, Inc. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/encourage (accessed: September 16, 2015)].
The True Source
As I consider the first definition listed, I am prompted to remember God is the true source of any courage or confidence. For I am indeed weak, but He is strong as the song reminds us.
All the words of “yah, rah, rah“ that I could say fall short of being able to really lift the heart. We all have finite bodies. The limitations of our physic and mind are at times painfully evident.
Could we push ourselves on? Can we reach beyond the limits we believe exist? Yes. So often we limit our capacity by simply not trying. Still no matter how far we stretch a limit exists to our capacity. In our humanity we are reminded daily that our all our strength, courage, and confidence must needs spring from God. As our Heavenly Father – Creator – Savior – He alone can encourage us best when we need it most.
My prayer for you today
Regardless of where you are, what you face, or how your heart is craving the courage to move forward may you to lift your eyes to God, seek the truth in His Word, and rely on Him for what your heart and soul need today.
